    I’ve had the grey(ish) one for about 6 months. Gonna keep that for hiking and pick up an orange for kayaking! It’s a VERY good point you make about visibility when you are in the water.

      @@Robmobius i will do im back at the studio in a week or so. Just some of the footage was shot in LOG and was just left flat. My suggesestion would be to all the camera crew to shoot REC709. Effectively its a ready For Tx with minimal grading required. Many guys that shoot Canon amd Sony love their LOG shots. Its all good for documentary stories but for Supersport or even jusy standard TX work i have found the REC709 just speeds up the workflow for broadcast with minimal colour correction required

    Did the camera boat get a little too close as Andy Birkett's boat was making a break near the finish, affecting Hank MacGregor's boat ability to challenge? Great race by top crews!

    • @Robmobius
      @Robmobius Рік тому

      I was on the mic commentating at the finish and thought the same. In fact you can hear me on the mic asking the boat to move. But if you look at the video Andy and Nic were well away and Hank and Josh had given up the chase already so the boat wash had not affect.

      Was using it today when delivery mail, and I forgot that last summer I had to have my shirt collar facing upwards. I think the sides are fine; it's more the back as I got a little bit of sunburn there today.

      On a pole behind me. It’s actually the shaft from a broken paddle. I mounded a base plate that is an exact fit to the rear deck of the ski from seam to seam. I just duct tape that on and then a thread mount epoxied to the top of the paddle shaft for the camera.

    How does it hold up in the wind? I noticed there was no cord that goes around the chin like other hats have that secures it to your head when it gets windy.

    • @Robmobius
      @Robmobius 3 роки тому

      It works really well as a sun hat. In full protection mode, as seen at 6.15, it can’t blow off. I use it in strong winds constantly and never had it blow off.

      If only it were that easy. I don’t think there is a human alive who could muscle their way through 2m hard breaking waves with howling onshore conditions. For sure that approach could work in cleaner or smaller conditions. The paddlers in the video are some of the very best surf paddlers in the world. When u see guys of that caliber picking their moment you know conditions are full on. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Consider subscribing?

      You were the one there and would know best when to make the run for the outside. I been there on a kayak before and it can get sketchy for a variety reasons. I just always found it best to wait for last wave of the set and then hit it for the outside works best for me. Probably because I dont know any better. @@Robmobius

      That's what I was taught, "just keep paddling", however this must have been a big day and per the other comments the size is hard to comprehend in the video. Obviously tough day out, although I must admit, even I as a beginner have never wanted to back paddle in surf or actually thought it was a thing. Might need better understanding of big surf management, i.e. ask someone who knows more than me. On a day like this it may have been coffee and spectate for me. At least you were put there, did you finish the race?

The cap is ideal for hiking, fishing, water activities (it doesn’t get soggy) and genuinely keeps you cool with its lightweight and wicking qualities! There is also a new version of this cap with even more wearing options.

    Seems like the guys psyched each other out and you all stopped in the zone? The double had the right idea, went for it through a gap, couldn't work out why you were back-paddling which got you out of alignment at the critical moment.

    • @Robmobius
      @Robmobius 4 роки тому

      Hi Mark, thanks for the comment. The impact zone that day was over 100m wide which the camera does not really pick up. So while it looks like the surf in front of us is not too bad, deeper in it was crazy. When you are sitting alongside some of the best big water surfski paddlers on the planet, and they are waiting (or swimming) you know it's gnarly. Lots of mistakes made that day though. I should have gone for it, but had allowed myself to drift too far back and then I spotted a wave that made me hesitate, and hesitation is devastation. The double was paddled by one of the best DW's we have and one of the best in the surf, they nailed it! PS Hit the subscribe button. Trying to get over the 1000 subscriber mark.
